Grade 10 Midi: CYOA Assignment Reminders
Hi everyone,
While I'm away Tuesday, please continue to work on your CYOA assignments.
For all my classes, by the end of the week you should have your chords, bassline and drums recorded - and have started the process of creating a melody.
While I'm away Tuesday, please continue to work on your CYOA assignments.
For all my classes, by the end of the week you should have your chords, bassline and drums recorded - and have started the process of creating a melody.
Remember:
- Your bass should be playing the same note as your left hand
in the chords
- Go to www.onlinedrummer.com to
get ideas on creating a drum beat. Also, the easiest way to switch up your drums when going to the verse to the chorus is to move from playing the
high hat to the ride cymbal.
- Keep looking back to your proposal sheet to make sure you are recording
your chords properly.
Good luck and come by Wednesday after school if you have any
questions!
Miss Lintott.

Hey Midiots! Wear pink on Wednesday!
Like we've talked about in grade 10 midi, youth have the strongest impact and influence on the entertainment and social media industry. Check out the how some Canadian high school students used this power and made something develop into an international event. On Wednesday - wear pink!
"The International Day of Pink is a day of action, born when a youth in a high school in Cambridge, Nova Scotia was bullied because he wore a pink shirt to school. His fellow students decided to stand up to bullying; hundreds of students came to school wearing pink to show support for diversity and stopping discrimination, bullying and homophobia."

Hi Everyone,
While I'm away sick today, please continue working on your 12 bar blues assignment, and focus mainly on the first twelve bars. If you have a permission form and money for the Scratch Lab trip, please give it to Mr. Pinhorn. Continue to practice your F+ chords as you will be tested next week. If you did not get a sheet they are up at the front on the ledge. See you on Wednesday.
For the 12-Bar Blues Assignment, record:
- chords
- walking bassline
- jazz style drums (swing eighth notes)
- blues melody (with lyrics!)
Your blues melody should be simple and repetitive. As a general rule, use one note (rhythmically) per syllable of a word. Write your lyrics FIRST, then write a melody to work with the lyrics. Check out the examples listed on the assignment on YouTube for some inspiration.
Write your blues lyrics on a word document to be submitted with the final assignment.

Put Titles In Your Slideshows!
Grade 11 students are reminded to preview their slideshow for someone who does not know your TOPIC, OPINION or STORY. If they cannot tell you exactly what your pictures mean, you must add TITLES, TRANSITIONS and EFFECTS to the pictures to make your meaning more clear. Do not expect your audience to "infer" anything, be completely OBVIOUS. mrp
