Grade 10 Songwriter Reminders

As you are handing in your assignment can you please double check that you have done the following so that you do not lose marks for silly errors.

Check that:

  1. EVERYTHING is quantized (aligned)
  2. The metronome is turned off.
  3. The purple end marker is set to 1 bar after your song ends.
  4. You have selected a master track effect.
Please name your assignment FirstnameL Songwriter (i.e. VivianQ Songwriter) and submit it in your section of the ToBeMarked folder.

Grade 11 Slideshow Drafts due this Friday!

By this Friday, November 26, 2010 all Grade 11 MIDI students should do the following:

• in iMovie use the share menu to create a FULL QUALITY of your movie without music.
• rename the file with your name and initials in the title.
• drop the resulting movie into the Grade 11 TO BE MARKED folder in your appropriate section.

You will receive feedback on:
• how well your topic is presented: does your audience know the point?
• your use of text, effects and transitions to compliment your slideshow; is it readable, how is the pacing?
• how you can use the media to present your topic more effectively; how can I take the next step?

Put Titles In Your Slideshows!

Grade 11 students are reminded to preview their slideshow for someone who does not know your TOPIC, OPINION or STORY.  If they cannot tell you exactly what your pictures mean, you must add TITLES, TRANSITIONS and EFFECTS to the pictures to make your meaning more clear.  Do not expect your audience to "infer" anything, be completely OBVIOUS. mrp

Q107's Top 107 Classic Rock Songs Of All Time

If you were thinking about checking out some older bands from the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's, this list is a great place to start.

Remember, if you download any of their songs, find versions that are 224 kbps and up so you hear the musicians the way they intended their music to be heard ;-)

iTunes Plus versions of all this music is available on iTunes, complete with album art, some of which was really cool back in the day.

If you have never heard of any of these bands, two Canadian bands scored very high on the list:

Led Zeppelin 9 songs of the 107 Classic Rock Songs of all time

The Beatles 8 songs of the 107 Classic Rock Songs of all time

Pink Floyd 7 songs of the 107 Classic Rock Songs of all time

The Rolling Stones 6 songs of the 107 Classic Rock Songs of all time

U2 5 songs of the 107 Classic Rock Songs of all time

AC/DC 5 songs of the 107 Classic Rock Songs of all time

Rush (Canadian Band!) 4 songs of the 107 Classic Rock Songs of all time

The Guess Who (Canadian Band!) 4 songs of the 107 Classic Rock Songs of all time
